== The Limitations of Positive Thinking ==

Positive thinking is so firmly enshrined in our culture that knocking it is a little like attacking motherhood or apple pie. Many persons swear by positive thinking and quite a few have been helped by it. Nevertheless, it is not a very effective tool and can be downright harmful in some cases. There are much better ways to get the benefits that positive thinking allegedly provides.

== World Book Night: Millions of Free Books Donated ==

A young woman is jumping up and down in front of the New York Public Library wearing a sandwich sign that says, "Hate Reading? Talk To Me!" Shes waving around several copies of "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls, eager to get them off her hands.Men and women in suits breeze by, but some passersby are curious about the spectacle. If you were roaming the streets of New York City or London last night you may have encountered a similar scene: Zealous readers handing out award-winning novels by the boxful.

For many years I worked in palliative care. My patients were those who had gone home to die. Some incredibly special times were shared. I was with them for the last three to twelve weeks of their lives.

Paroles

ah! ah! ah! Vive les sabots de bois !

Voilà qu'aux portes de Rennes,
L'on vit trois beaux capitaines
Offrir à leur souveraine
Un joli pied de verveine

S'il fleurit tu seras reine
Elle a fleuri la verveine
Anne de France fut Reine
Les bretons sont dans la peine
En France ils suivront leur reine

Commentaires
